The Life Sciences are concerned with all manifestations of life and therefore exhibit broad
inter-disciplinarity with no boundaries. The Life Sciences encompass the experimental natural
sciences, biology, chemistry and physics, including the integrated methods from mathematics and
information technology, as well as clinical medicine. Life Sciences at the University of Zurich
and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich consist of research and teaching
in the disciplines mentioned above and in the areas of environmental sciences, agriculture,
and nutrition sciences.
Today the research at the University and at the ETH is world renowned in many areas of the Life
Sciences.
